Mole removal

Surgical removal of moles is required if:

  • there is a risk of malignant degeneration
  • they are exposed to permanent injury (they can be the damaged by the comb on the scalp, the bra strap on the chest and the razor on shaved areas)
  • they are aesthetically disturbing.

  • they know which are the ideal intersection lines in terms of wound healing and attribute great importance to it.
  • they combine the wound with the “invisible” seam running under the skin.
  • In contrast to the "laser" method, they are able to transfer the removed mole intact for histological examination.
  • Does not leave white spots, instead a thin scar line is visible.

The procedure of mole removal

  • First, the mole should be examined, then the surgeon discusses the possible surgical solution with the patient. The surgical intervention can be done immediately. It is carried out under local anaesthesia, the lesion is usually removed by a leaf-shaped excision and the incision is sutured using the "invisible" suture technique. The wound is covered with protective dressing. The suture is removed after 1-3 weeks, depending on the rate of the tightness. The wound cannot be exposed to water until suture is removed.

What kind of scars remain after mole removal?

After excision a thin scar remains, which soon becomes purplish and after a few months it fades away. Unfortunately, in some areas (e.g. back) the scar often widens over the time taking the shape of a plum seed. However, it is not disturbing after fading, either.
