As part of the aging process fine and coarse wrinkles appear on the body, especially on the delicate facial skin.
These wrinkles can be partly attributed to the effects of gravity, i.e. the loose connective tissue no longer holds the skin tight, and it starts sagging due to gravity. A typical example of these wrinkles are the nasolabial lines running from the side of the nose towards the edge of the mouth.
Another type of wrinkles known as expression lines caused by facial muscle contractions, and appear when the skin loses its ability to return to perfect smoothness even when the muscles are relaxed, e.g. forehead lines and crows’ feet.
Depending on the origin and depth of the wrinkles a variety of aesthetic treatments can be used. In such cases or for less severe wrinkles face lifting is the most appropriate intervention.
